If you haven’t already seen I am kicking around the idea of an Oppo community car (nothing serious but hey you never know!). Here are some requirements for this mythical community car. We will let the community decide.
Sorry my polls are showing up weird everyone.
Try to keep the answers as realistic as possible please. You never know maybe this crazy idea will one day happen.

Dual Clutch 4x4 convertible from italy with 6 cylinders. It’ll be a nice reminder that things could always be worse. I’m not sure if this vehicle exists or not but I’m sure there is something like it deep in the bowels of the FCA back catalogue.

A French 12-cylinder, 4x4 truck with a dual-clutch in the USA

Simple, like that Mustang you have make it an Fairlane/Torino/Gran Torino Sport. It ticks all the boxes.

I voted American V8 RWD auto sedan.
If there is an oppo car at the end of the year, and it isn't an STS-v, I quit oppo.

I doubt it exists but I am sure Lamborghini is close with something like the new SUV they might make

That is what I was thinking. Something exactly along those lines and universally loved

V12 4x4 US made Wagon with a manuel. Have fun.
Though really, it would probably be a Miata. Though for the price of a Miata you could get a V6 Mustang.

Can’t in good conscience vote because you forgot the single most Jalop/Oppo body style: shooting-brake (or fastback). You also forgot 5-cylinder as an engine option and “hatch-back” as a body style.
RWD, inline 5 cylinder, dual-clutch, shooting-brake from either the UK or Germany.
More realistically though:
4-cyl, automatic, FWD, wagon from Korea for <$5,000 would do as a reliable grocery getter. I won’t be flashy but it’ll save you a fortune on maintenance and gas which you can channel into your 12-cylinder manual RWD project car on weekends.
Now that’s Jalop.

I considered adding it but most 5 cylinders are out of reach to buy on a tight budget

I edited my post. Also: late 80s/early 90s Audis had 5-cyl engines, no? If you could find one of those in good shape, it could easily be in budget. Just sayin’.

Lol the body style poll. Oppo is the only group of people where the first choice after coupe would be wagon.

Majority of results say USA, 8-cylinder, RWD, Manual, Coupe, $0-$5,000
So, an SN95?

That or like a similar vintage Camaro or Firebird would be the best bet. Maybe even a C4 Vette

Another thing: you forgot Sweden!
A Volvo 1800ES would be well out of budget but there are a lot of later Volvos that would be so Jalop. (brown, manual, wagon...)

The best kind! I’d drive it. And it would not be brown or diesel.

Me neither. Dark grey has always been my favourite car colour, but having had that on my last two my next vehicle will be something obnoxiously bright.
Diesel I don’t mind in and of itself, I like the 335d and a 2500HD Duramax. But for regular cars there’s not much point. A diesel car is more expensive to buy and to fuel up. Not worth it to me.
I also mostly prefer sedans over wagons and hatchbacks (except Sonic and Fiesta).

...and if this one isn’t Jalop, I don’t know what is:
Google “slammed Volvo wagon” for a whole world of awesome.

Obvious answer is obvious...
Notchback Fox Body Mustang with a 5.0 and a T5!
USA - check
8 cylinder - check
RWD - check
Manual - check
Coupe - check
Prices vary but they can be had for $2500...
